Job Description / Responsibility
  • Job Context:
  • The four rehabilitation professional associations i.e., Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association, Bangladesh Occupational Therapy Association, Bangladesh Society of Prosthesis and Orthotics, and Bangladesh Speech and Language Therapy Society, in partnership with Handicap International Bangladesh is implementing a three-year EU-funded project titled ‘Towards global health: strengthening the rehabilitation sector through civil society’. The project started in January 2016 and will continue until December 2018. The overall objective of this project is to contribute to universal health coverage, by supporting the Government of Bangladesh’s compliance with World Health Assembly resolutions on rehabilitation and disability-inclusive health care systems, as a basis for optimal health, functioning, well-being and human rights of people with disabilities. The specific objective of the project is to enable civil society organizations, specifically rehabilitation professional associations, to build multi-stakeholder consensus on defining and strengthening the health sector, particularly rehabilitation, in Bangladesh.
  • Role overview:
  • The four rehabilitation professional associations will jointly establish a Secretariat in Dhaka to manage and coordinate the implementation of partnership activities with Handicap International Bangladesh. The Project Coordinator will be based in this Secretariat and will be responsible for the overall management and the implementation of the partnership activities of the rehabilitation professional associations.
  • Specific responsibilities of the Project Coordinator:
  • Coordinate the capacity development process; prepare activity plans, execute project plan, conduct and coordinate training activities, implement, manage and monitor project activities, communicate with relevant stakeholders, prepare reports;
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan which includes programmatic, administrative and financial tasks involved in the project;
  • Develop necessary tools for proper project monitoring, documentation and reporting;
  • Project indicators tracking and review planning for implementation;
  • Act as a focal point to communicate and coordinate with Handicap International;
  • Coordinate among four rehabilitation associations in all aspects;
  • Monitor and review project progress as per project logical framework;
  • Identify issues and constraints affecting the project and facilitate process to deal with those issues;
  • Organize and coordinate meeting between stakeholders and prepare and/or edit meeting minutes, presentations and tables;
  • Make and maintain capacity building and project related data available (hard and soft copies) and submit periodic progress and financial reports to HI;
  • Progress daily, weekly and monthly reporting to ensure that all schedules run smoothly, and that all activities are completed in a timely manner;
  • Prepare quarterly narrative and financial report for HI, track expenditure and submit realistic forecast;
  • Work and coordinate activities with all stakeholders, including professional and technical personnel of governmental authorities and non-governmental organizations; Disseminate the information among professional organization/stakeholders;
  • Supervise the administrative officer and oversee all the administrative, financial and logistic aspects of the project.
Job Nature


Educational Requirements
    Master’s degree with a major in rehabilitation, social sciences, anthropology, business administration or any other relevant field.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 10 year(s)
  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
    Administrative, Communication/Public Relation/Media, Field or Project Organizer, Project Coordinator/ Officer, Supervision
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    Healthcare/Lifestyle product, Hospital, NGO
Additional Job Requirements
  • Age 30 to 50 year(s)
  • At least 10 years working experience g in a management position, preferably as project coordinator or project manager;
  • Sound experience in planning, implementation and financial management as per Project Cycle Management and Logical Framework Approach;
  • Working experience with local NGOs or international development organization is preferable;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent proficiency both in English and Bengali;
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with team members and project stakeholders. Excellent negotiation skills;
  • Work experience in operational research and policy advocacy will be preferred;
  • Planning and organizing skills – Excellent planning and organizing skills; keen to work in a stressful environment;
  • Experience in partnership development and management as well as in managing projects in collaboration with Government;
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills, dynamic, self-driven and pro-active, with commitment to continuous learning;
  • Strong organizational, conceptual and analytical skills;
  • Time management – Excellent time management skills;
  • Financial – Experience of managing budget;
  • Sound experience in resource management e.g. people, finances, assets;
  • Problem solving and decision making skills;
  • The position needs frequent travel to project areas;
  • Flexibility;

Tk. 47000 – 52000
