Type: It is hing variety of synovial joint.

Formation:

Above: By capitulaum and trochlea of the humerus.

Below: By upper surface of the head of radius & trochlear notch of ulna.

Ligaments of the joint:

  • Capsular ligament.
  • Anterior ligament.
  • Posterior ligament.
  • Ulnar collateral ligament.
  • Radial collateral ligament.

Movement:

Flexion: Produced by-

  1. Brachialis.
  2. Biceps brachii.
  3. Brachioradialis.

Extension: produced by-

  • Anconeus.
  • Triceps.

Blood supply: From anastomosis round the elbow joint.
