Q: No: 01: a) Define crystalloid and colloid with examples of each. Mention the differences between them.

b) Define and classify enzymes with examples. Describe the influence of substrate concentration on enzyme activity.

c) What is buffer? State the mechanism of action of buffer. Name the body fluid buffers.

Q: No: 02: a) Define and name the bio-molecules. Classify and describe the importance of polysaccharide in human.

b) Define amino acid and draw its structure. Mention the functions of plasma proteins.

c) Define fatty acid and classify them. Give the importance of phospholipid and fatty acid.

Q: No: 03: a) Name the metabolic pathway for carbohydrate. Give the importance of HMP shunt pathway.

b) What do you mean by ketogenesis? Describe the mechanism of developing ketoacidosis in uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.

c) Write short notes on: i) Nucleotide ii) Transaminatin

Q: No: 04: a) Name the test done in a biochemistry lab for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Describe the interpretations of fasting plasma glucose level.

b) Name the biochemical markers for myocardial infarction. Give the interpretations of CK-MB and Troponin L.

c) Write short notes on: i) laboratory hazards in a biochemistry lab ii) Glycosuria
